"Following the Sun" Children Photo Exhibition

| free

It is evident that photography is a more accessible means of expression than, for example, film. Despite all the technical problems and multistage production activities connected with filming it is also a collective work and demands serious organizational skills.

Thus, as a beginning, in the educational process with the members of SunChild Eco-clubs, we have first of all emphasized the teaching of photography in order to impart to the children the ability to observe nature. The particular characteristics of photography are very appropriate to develop and raise the children's ability of individual work and their sense for responsibility. Through individual work the children discover their creative skills and abilities, thoughts, emotions and wishes.

Of course one can give a photo camera to any child and after a small training, on the next day you will get some interesting photos. Afterwards, by means of the child's own photos, you can explain to him his mistakes and teach him how to correct them. As a result of this periodic work the children gradually learn to observe the world – nature with its perfection as well as the problems which surround us.

As a result of joint work, mutual love and respect, today we have an exhibition of quite interesting photos taken by the members of SunChild Eco-clubs in six regions of Armenia. Now we can present it to your visual judgment with pride and honor.

Vahram Mkhitaryan, Sirakan Abroyan, and Arzuman Harutyunyan worked with the children throughout FPWC "Following the Sun" environmental educational program. Weekly trainings in the SunChild Eco-clubs combined theoretical and practical lessons. As a result, a short summary of the works of the young photographers was presented on April 22nd, in the framework of the first part of SunChild Regional Environmental Festival. Obviously, the small exhibition encouraged the guests and the teachers as well as the participants and the organizers. Thus, after the one-year program we are now presenting the first comprehensive photo exhibition of the "Following the Sun" project to the judgment of the audience.
