SHIKAHOGH

"Shikahogh" - Written by Inga Zarafyan and directed by Nikolay Davtyan is the first film from the presented series of documentaries. It tells the story of a coalition of local and international NGOs, educational and scientific organizations, as well as individuals—including Armenia Tree Project, Armenian Forests NGO, World Wildlife Fund, American University of Armenia, and Armenian Assembly of America—who worked with the Diaspora to urge the government to consider alternatives to the proposed route that would bypass the National Shikahogh Reserve and do less environmental damage.

Director Nikolay Davtyan

 

He graduated from Yerevan State Pedagogical Institute, Directing Department. Since 1969, he has been working on TV. In 1984, he moved to Sverdlovsk where till 1986 he worked as director of drama edition of local TV station. Since 1988 he has been the general director of Nagorno-Karabakh regional television. Since 1993 he has been the head of the documentary films studio of the Ministry of Defence of Armenia. Since 1995 he has been the deputy head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Inner Affairs. From 1995 until now he was the General Director of the Armenian branch of MIR TV and Radio Station. Since 2003 he has been teaching TV directing in the Institute of Theater and Cinema.
