WILD FACES OF THE ANDS
Spanning more than 7500 kilometres north to south, the Andes is the longest mountain range in the world. The land in the shadow of the Andes is a study in. In the stormy wastes of Patagonia to the south, craggy mountain ranges and glaciers are the landscape's main features, while further north in the high Andes, volcanoes, geysers and soda lakes predominate. The Atacama – the driest desert in the world – lies to the west of the Andes, and the Pantanal – the world’s largest wetlands – stretches to the east. The fauna there is as varied as its landscape. Majestic landscapes and unusual animal stories illustrate the diversity of life in the shadow of this mighty mountain range.

Steffen Sailer (b. 1968, Bad Urach, Germany)
His initial apprenticeship was in mechatronics (1989 – 1992), which he continued in branch of Mechatronics University of Applied Science, Esslingen (1993 – 1996). Having worked as an industrial mechanic and engineer for mechanical design, he pursued photography as well. In 2001 he was awarded the European Nature Photographer of the Year prize. Started his filmmaking career in 2010.
